Vinted Members Express Anger About Sizing Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's garments failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Digital Channels Response
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification versus the original listing because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to examine their items and manually change the size where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Before the change, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Required Changes
Another shopper, based in Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options following member complaints.
