Roughly fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Officers state they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.
The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then discovered many other smeared cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials state initial examinations suggest the fluid was probably blood from a person.
"There is still no lead as to its source; investigators are presently not aware of any harm in association with the event," they commented.
Local authorities announced they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have requested to the public for details.
An important representative said the attack left him speechless and required to be addressed rapidly.
"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he stated on social media, referring to the killing of nine victims by a gunman targeting individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
